Ice cream, slurpees, and shakes—oh, my!

Posted on August 27th, 2009, by Sarah

There’s no polite way to discuss this next subject, so if you are squeamish about bodily functions, this is not the post for you—unless of course you suffer from this particular problem.
In my office experience thus far, the number one reason for diarrhea (and this excludes the stomach flues that are passed around in [...]

Rejuvenate.

Posted on August 26th, 2009, by Sarah

I’ve had a great summer—took a month off to backpack, meditate and spend time with family and friends. Just giving myself a bit of that downtime advice I give to patients on a daily basis.  Often I ask patients what do you do for downtime, and I get a chuckle as they say [...]

Posted on May 29th, 2009, by Sarah

In the first edition of Sinus Relief I talked about cleaning out the nasal passages with the neti pot.  The next step is to rinse the nasopharynx.  I’ve been doing it every day now for a week so no need to tell that this is the most disgusting thing you’ve ever done.  Just get in [...]

Zheng Gu Shui liniment is used for sprains, strains, broken bones, deep bruising, and arthritis.  It penetrates deeply and must be [...]

Baths and Epsom Salts for Pain

Posted on February 13th, 2009, by Sarah

Epsom salts, magnesium sulfate, are a gift for sore muscles, inflammation, circulation, and stress relief.  Often after an acupuncture treatment for pain (lumbar, neck, headaches, carpal tunnel, and so on), I recommend a patient take a warm-hot Epsom salt bath to alleviate any residual inflammation and to address any soreness that occurs from the treatment.  [...]

Sinus Relief

Posted on January 28th, 2009, by Sarah

The neti pot is a wonderful Asian invention for those who suffer from hayfever, sinus infections, sinus headaches, and nasal congestion.  The neti pot clears congestion and pressure in the sinuses by irrigating saline solution (water and salt) through the nasal passages.
I’ve had skeptical patients turn into believers, who have gone on to “convert” their [...]
